The lodge sits above Great Oyster Bay near Coles Bay, facing the Hazards range in Freycinet National Park. The main building has a curved, wave-shaped roof, and the suites are spread out below it, around 20 in total across Luxury Suites, Signature Suites and Private Pavilions, plus a three-bedroom private villa. Every room faces the water and the mountains, and Palate restaurant, reserved for in-house guests, has the same view.
Stays are all-inclusive, with tasting menus at Palate and a rotating program of guided experiences. These include wading into the water at a local oyster farm to shuck and eat oysters, a guided walk on Country with an Aboriginal guide, stargazing, and a visit to see Tasmanian devils. Wineglass Bay and the national park walks are close by. Saffire is about two and a half hours' drive from Hobart, so it fits well after a few days in Melbourne or Hobart, or as part of a wider Tasmania drive.
Best for couples, food lovers and walkers who like cooler weather and a quiet setting. The caveats: it is one of the most expensive lodges in Australia, the drive in takes a while, and Tasmania's weather changes fast, so even summer days can be cool and windy. It works best for two or three nights, not a single stop.
Saffire Freycinet is the place to see Tasmania's east coast, with every suite looking across Great Oyster Bay to the pink granite peaks of the Hazards and the food and guided outings built into the rate. It suits food and wine lovers and couples who want a slower few days of walking, oysters and long dinners.

Every trip is tailored. Tell me what you have in mind and I will build an itinerary around this stay.
Tell me when you'd like to go and who's traveling, and I'll check availability, perks where available, and how it fits a wider trip. It starts with a 20-minute planning call; full trip planning is a $250 fee, credited in full toward your booked trip and non-refundable if you don’t book. I brief the property before you arrive — that's what the fee funds.
