Ritz Carlton Melbourne pool

Ritz Carlton Melbourne

A standout

Melbourne CBD, Victoria

The hotel opened in 2023 on the western side of Melbourne's central business district, at 650 Lonsdale Street. You enter at street level and take a lift straight to the Sky Lobby on level 80. There are 257 rooms spread through the upper floors, with views east over the city or out to Port Phillip Bay, plus an indoor heated infinity pool, a spa with six treatment rooms, and Atria restaurant and Cameo cocktail bar up on level 80.

Melbourne is Australia's food and coffee city, and the hotel works as a base for exploring laneway cafes, the galleries along Southbank and the city's restaurants. Day trips run to the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula wine regions, and the Great Ocean Road is a longer drive or an overnight. Melbourne also has quick flights to Tasmania, so a few nights here pairs well with a stay at Saffire Freycinet.

Best for couples and food-focused travelers who want a modern, high-floor hotel with real views. The caveat is that it is a city tower hotel, not a lodge, and the location on the western edge of the CBD is less charming than Melbourne's inner neighbourhoods, so expect to use trams or taxis to reach some of the better restaurants.

The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne sits at the top of the city's tallest hotel tower, with check-in on level 80 and big views over the bay and across to the Dandenong Ranges. It suits travelers who want a sleek, high-floor city base for Melbourne's food, wine and culture before heading out to the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula or Tasmania.

Postcard from Ritz Carlton Melbourne

A standout for a Ritz-Carlton. The rooms are brand new, and because the hotel sits at the top of a high-rise, your views are from 70-odd floors above Melbourne.
