Wilderness Little DumaTau

Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, northern Botswana

Little DumaTau has four tented suites built to the same design as DumaTau, each with views over Osprey Lagoon, an en-suite bathroom and an outdoor shower. It has its own main area but connects to DumaTau by a raised walkway, and the two camps share the spa, gym, shop and deli at the Osprey Retreat. The whole camp can be booked for exclusive use. Guests fly in by light aircraft, about 50 minutes from Maun or 45 from Kasane.

The focus is on game drives by day and night, with boat trips on the lagoon, usually a sunset cruise or a floating lunch, and occasional short walks. Catch-and-release fishing runs outside January and February. Elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and wild dog are all in the area, and the dry months from June to October bring the biggest concentrations to the water. It slots into a Botswana trip as the Linyanti stop, ideally for three or four nights.

Little DumaTau suits honeymooners, small groups and anyone who prefers a four-suite camp to a larger one. There is no family room, and families with children aged six to 12 need a private vehicle, so families usually do better at DumaTau unless they take the whole camp. Because the two camps share facilities, it feels less isolated than its size suggests. The camp is unfenced, and guests are escorted after dark.

Wilderness Little DumaTau is a four-suite camp beside DumaTau on Osprey Lagoon, in the private Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. We recommend it for couples and small groups who want the same Linyanti wildlife as DumaTau in a quieter setting, or a whole camp to themselves.
