Wilderness Chitabe Lediba

Chitabe concession, southeastern Okavango Delta

Lediba means a small lagoon, and the camp sits beside one on a Delta channel. Meru-style tents stand on raised decks with outdoor showers, and the family units have two adjoining bedrooms that share a bathroom. The main area has a lounge, a dining room, a pool, a boma and a fire pit. Like its sister camp, it runs entirely on solar power, and there is Wi-Fi and a small shop. Hippo and crocodile use the lagoon.

Guests use the same 22,000-hectare Chitabe concession as the main camp, so the wildlife is the same: wild dog, lion, leopard, cheetah and elephant, with red lechwe, impala and zebra on the floodplains. Activities include day and night game drives, guided walks, birding and bush picnics, with helicopter flights and a Tsodilo Hills excursion at extra cost. In a Botswana itinerary it does the same job as Chitabe, as the land-based predator stop, at a gentler pace.

Lediba suits families, multi-generational groups and friends traveling together, especially if they can take the family units. One practical point: Wilderness does not offer private vehicles to Lediba guests, so families with young children should check the activity rules before booking. Water activities are not the focus here, so plan a separate water camp in the northern or western Delta if mokoro and boating matter to you.

Wilderness Chitabe Lediba is the small, family-friendly sister of Wilderness Chitabe, sharing the same private concession on the edge of Moremi Game Reserve. We recommend it for families and small groups who want Chitabe's game viewing in a relaxed camp built around a lagoon.
