Koh Yao Noi is a rural island of rubber plantations, rice fields and fishing villages in Phang Nga Bay, reached by boat from Phuket in about 45 minutes. Six Senses opened here in 2007. The pool villas are set on the hillside facing the bay and its limestone islands, and the hilltop villas have the widest views over the bay.
The best days are on the water. You can take a traditional long-tail boat or the resort's speedboat through the karst islands of Phang Nga Bay, paddle into hidden lagoons inside the rocks, and visit the fishing villages of Koh Yao Noi. The resort grows much of its own produce, runs a strong spa, and has a kids' club.
Six Senses Yao Noi suits couples, families and anyone who values setting and quiet over a classic beach. The beach below the resort is tidal, so at low tide the water draws back a long way and swimming is mainly in the pools. Expect steps and buggies on the hillside, and rain and rough crossings in the southwest monsoon, from about May to October.
Six Senses Yao Noi sits on a hillside on Koh Yao Noi, an island in Phang Nga Bay between Phuket and Krabi. Pool villas look across the water to the limestone karsts. It suits couples and families who want views, a slow island pace and a strong sustainability focus.
