Singita Sabora Tented Camp

Grumeti Reserve, western Serengeti

Sabora sits on the open plains of the Grumeti Reserve, around 350,000 acres on the western side of the Serengeti, and it reopened in 2021 after a full redesign. There are nine one-bedroom tented suites, each with a meditation deck, an outdoor sala with daybeds looking toward one of two waterholes, a private fitness area and a pantry. The main area has a pool and a Guest Deli that packs picnics.

Twice-daily drives in open vehicles are included, and guests 16 and over can join guided bush walks. Other options include hot-air balloon flights, stargazing and visits to anti-poaching and community projects, and tennis at Sasakwa Lodge is included. The migration usually passes through Grumeti around June and July. Flights land at the Sasakwa airstrip, so Sabora is easy to combine with a camp in the northern or central Serengeti.

Sabora suits couples and families with older children who want a tented camp with lodge-level comfort. Children 10 and over are welcome, but bush walks are limited to guests 16 and over. For much of the year the migration is elsewhere and game viewing relies on resident wildlife, and anyone after a simple, classic tented camp may find Sabora more polished than they expect.

Sabora is a nine-suite tented camp on the open plains of Singita's private Grumeti Reserve, and we recommend it for its space, privacy and the freedom of a private concession. It suits couples and families with children 10 and over who want a polished tented camp rather than a manor-style lodge.
