The camp sits in a private conservation area bordering Mana Pools, with views over the Zambezi to the escarpment. It has a handful of en-suite tents with screened fronts facing the river, a plunge pool, and a Star Bed platform for a night out. The scale is the point: with so few tents, meals and activities feel more like a private trip than a lodge stay.
Activities are included and match the main camp: game drives, river cruises, canoeing, guided walks, catch-and-release tigerfishing and birding. Lion, leopard and wild dog are seen regularly in this part of the valley, and elephants are around camp much of the time. Three nights is a good stay, and it pairs well with Hwange or Victoria Falls.
Little Ruckomechi suits couples, honeymooners and small groups of about four to ten who want the camp to themselves. It is closed from late November to the end of March. Because it is so small it books up early, and families with young children will usually be better served by the family units at Ruckomechi. Like most camps in the area it is a dry-season camp, so plan your dates around that.
Wilderness Little Ruckomechi is the small sister camp to Ruckomechi, on the same private stretch of the Zambezi on the western edge of Mana Pools. It shares Ruckomechi's wildlife and guide team in a more private setting and can be booked for exclusive use.
