The camp stands on a tree island in riparian forest, looking out over a floodplain and a permanent lagoon. Nine tented suites are raised on wooden platforms, each with a lounge, a bedroom and an en-suite bathroom, and one suite is on a single level and wheelchair-friendly. The wider concession mixes seasonal floodplains, papyrus-lined channels, mopane woodland and scrub. The flight from Maun takes about 30 minutes, followed by a short transfer.
Game drives take a maximum of four guests per vehicle, with off-road tracking and night drives allowed. Double-decker motorboats run through the Kwara and Monachira channels, mokoro trips explore the shallower water near camp, and guided walks and fishing are also offered, though fishing closes in January and February. From around September to December, boat trips can visit the Godikwe heronry. In a Botswana trip, Kwara can cover water and predators in one stop.
Kwara suits couples and friends traveling together who want a wide choice of activities. Guests must be 18 or over, so families should look at Kwando's sister camp, Splash Camp, which has family rooms. The camp is unfenced, and elephants, baboons and monkeys walk through, so guests are escorted after dark and tents should stay closed. Lion, giraffe, zebra, elephant and hippo are seen on most stays.
Kwara Camp is a Kwando Safaris camp in the 175,000-hectare private Kwara concession, which shares a water boundary with Moremi Game Reserve. We recommend it because both water and land activities run year-round, which is unusual in the Delta, and it suits adults who want variety and strong predator viewing from one base.
