Jumby Bay occupies Long Island, a few kilometers off Antigua's north coast, and is part of the Oetker Collection. The boat from a jetty near V.C. Bird International Airport takes only a few minutes. There are no cars on the island; people walk, cycle or use golf carts. Rooms and suites sit near the main beach, and a number of private villas are spread around the island.
Days are about the beaches, the water and the bicycles. There is snorkeling, sailing, paddleboarding and tennis, a spa, and a kids' club. Hawksbill turtles nest on Pasture Bay beach, and the Jumby Bay Hawksbill Project has monitored them there since 1987, one of the longest-running studies of its kind in the Caribbean. Guests can sometimes join a night walk in nesting season.
Jumby Bay suits families and couples who want privacy and simple logistics, with direct flights to Antigua from the US and UK. The island is small and quiet, so there is little nightlife. Antigua's hurricane season runs from June to November, and the resort may close for part of the autumn.
Jumby Bay Island is a private, car-free island off the north coast of Antigua, reached by a short boat ride. Guests get around by bicycle, and the beaches are quiet. It is our Caribbean pick for families and couples who want an island of their own feel without a long journey.
