Jabali Ridge is built on a rocky kopje among large granite boulders near the seasonal Mwagusi River, in Ruaha's core game-viewing area. Views run over baobab woodland and grassland. There are eight suites, each with a king bed, a living area, a private verandah, a sunken outdoor lounge and a hammock. The lodge has an infinity pool and a spa, and the nearest airstrip, Msembe, is about 50 minutes away by road.
Game drives use a private guide and vehicle, so outings can be timed around you, and one night drive is included. Shared walking safaris with an armed ranger run from 1 June to 15 February for guests aged 12 and over. Ruaha is strong for lion and also holds leopard, cheetah, wild dog, greater and lesser kudu, and sable and roan. It pairs well with a Serengeti camp for contrast in landscape and wildlife.
Jabali Ridge suits couples, small groups and families with children aged five and over who want privacy and comfort in a less-visited park. It closes from mid-March to the end of May for the long rains, and walks after 15 February are not guaranteed. Ruaha gets very hot late in the dry season, and game viewing is best in the dry months, when animals gather along the rivers.
Jabali Ridge is an eight-suite lodge built among granite boulders in Ruaha, and we recommend it for big predators, a private guide and vehicle, and a striking setting. It suits couples and families with children five and over who want comfort in one of Tanzania's wilder, less-visited parks.
