The hotel is part of Rocco Forte Hotels and was designed by Giuseppe Valadier, the architect behind Piazza del Popolo. Its Secret Garden is a tiered Mediterranean garden of roses, orange trees and pines, recently restored to Valadier's original plans. Olga Polizzi designed the rooms, and there is the Irene Forte Spa and the Stravinskij Bar.
From the front door you can walk to the Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese and the shops of Via del Corso, and most of central Rome is a short taxi ride away. Le Jardin, with its terrace at the foot of the Pincio, is one of the nicest places in the city for lunch outdoors. Rome is a natural start or finish for a trip to Tuscany or the Amalfi Coast.
Hotel de Russie suits couples, families and first-time visitors who want to walk everywhere. It welcomes children with a kids program and family rooms. It is a city hotel, so rooms facing the street are livelier than those over the garden, and rates are high.
Hotel de Russie sits on Via del Babuino between Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps, with a terraced garden that climbs toward the Pincio. It is our first choice in Rome for location, calm and a courtyard lunch after a morning of sightseeing.
