Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita

Punta Mita, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico

Punta Mita is a gated peninsula at the northern end of the Bay of Banderas, about 45 minutes by road from Puerto Vallarta airport. The Four Seasons was the first resort here. Rooms and suites are in low casitas with tiled roofs on the hillside, many with plunge pools, and the beach below is sheltered for much of the year.

There is a lot to do. Two Jack Nicklaus golf courses include a par three played to a green on a natural rock island, reached by an amphibious cart at low tide. There is surfing on the point breaks nearby, boat trips to the Marietas Islands, a spa, and a kids' club. From about December to March, humpback whales come into the bay to give birth and are easy to see.

The Four Seasons suits families, golfers and active travelers who want a resort with good facilities and a short flight from much of the US. Punta Mita has become a developed resort area with private residences and other hotels, and the summer months are hot, humid and in the hurricane season.

Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita sits on a private peninsula north of Puerto Vallarta, on Mexico's Pacific coast. Casitas are spread over a hillside facing the bay. It suits families, golfers and surfers, and it is our easiest recommendation for a Mexican beach trip with children.
