Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea

Wailea, South Maui, Hawaii

The resort faces Wailea Beach on Maui's south shore, the driest and sunniest part of the island and about 30 minutes from Kahului airport. Rooms and suites look over the gardens and the sea, and the open-air public spaces are built around the pools, including a quieter adults-only pool. The Wailea coastal walk runs past the front of the hotel.

Wailea Beach is usually calm for swimming and snorkeling. Boats leave nearby for Molokini, a partly submerged crater with clear water, and from December to April the channel between Maui, Lanai and Kahoolawe is a major winter breeding ground for North Pacific humpback whales. Inland, a sunrise at the summit of Haleakalā and a drive along the road to Hana are the classic days out.

The Four Seasons suits families and couples who want a full-service beach resort with many restaurants and a kids' program. It is a large, busy hotel, especially at holiday times, and the Wailea strip is developed rather than wild. Book the whale season and holiday weeks well ahead.

Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is a large, polished beach resort on Wailea Beach, on the sunny south coast of Maui. It has pools for families and adults, and easy access to whale watching and snorkeling. It suits families who want a full resort on a good swimming beach.
