Bumi Hills Safari Lodge

Bumi Hills, Lake Kariba

The lodge looks over the lake from a central deck with an infinity pool, spa and gym. There are ten suites with air conditioning, a freestanding bath, indoor and outdoor showers and a private deck facing the water. The Baobab Villa has two large suites, its own living and dining areas, a butler, a guide and a private vehicle. Flights land at Bumi Hills airstrip, five minutes' drive away.

Activities include sunrise, midday and sunset boat cruises, catch-and-release fishing, morning, afternoon and night game drives, walks with armed guides, birding and community visits. The Lady Jacqueline boat can be booked for a lunch cruise or an overnight trip. From 1 September 2026 the lodge runs rhino game drives, walks and a conservation experience in Matusadona. Two or three nights between Mana Pools and Hwange works well.

Bumi Hills suits families and multigenerational groups, since it welcomes all ages and has a kids' program, and anyone who wants a slower stop on the water. Walking safaris are for ages 16 and up. It is a lodge rather than a bush camp, and wildlife viewing is less concentrated than in Hwange or Mana Pools, so treat it as a change of pace.

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge sits on a ridge above Lake Kariba on its own private conservancy, next to Matusadona National Park. It combines boat trips and fishing on the lake with game drives and walks, and from September 2026 it adds rhino activities in Matusadona.
