&Beyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp

Xudum concession, southern Okavango Delta

The camp has nine en-suite tents of canvas and bleached timber spread along sandy paths, each with a plunge pool, a shaded sala and a private outdoor shower, with views across channels and lagoons. One tent can take a child under 12 as a third guest. The camp is unfenced, so guests are escorted at night. Access is by light aircraft to the Xudum airstrip, about 20 minutes from Maun, then a drive or boat ride depending on the water.

Because the concession is private, game drives can go off-road and run at night. Guided walks with an armed guide, motorboat and mokoro trips, and catch-and-release fishing from March to December are also offered, with the water activities depending on flood levels. Red lechwe, elephant, hippo and giraffe are regular, and Pel's fishing owl and wattled crane are among the birds. In a Botswana trip it is a comfortable all-rounder for the southern Delta.

Xaranna suits couples and families, since children of all ages are welcome, though game drives start at six and walks and mokoro trips at 16. &Beyond closed the camp for renovation from June 2026, with reopening expected in 2027, so it is only an option for later trips and we confirm dates when booking. The islands do not hold big concentrations of game, so pair it with a stronger game-drive camp.

&Beyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp sits on its own island in a 25,000-hectare private concession in the southern Okavango Delta. We recommend it for comfortable tents with plunge pools and a good mix of land and water activities, and it suits couples and families, though it is closed for renovation until 2027.
