Badrutt's Palace Hotel

St. Moritz, Switzerland

The hotel opened in 1896 and is still owned by the Badrutt family. Suites look out over the Engadin mountains, most with butler service, and the newer Serlas Wing opened in 2025. The Chesa Veglia, a 17th-century Engadin farmhouse next door, has been part of the hotel since the 1930s.

In winter there is skiing on Corviglia, where the hotel owns the Paradiso Mountain Club, and a busy calendar of events in town. In summer there are hikes, mountain biking and the lake. There are indoor and outdoor pools, a kids and teens program, and many restaurants, including La Coupole-Matsuhisa. It pairs well with Zurich or the Italian lakes.

Badrutt's Palace suits families and anyone who wants a lively, sociable ski hotel. It is very expensive in peak winter weeks. The hotel opens only in two seasons, roughly early December to late March and early June to early September, and is closed in between.

Badrutt's Palace has been the grand hotel of St. Moritz since 1896, and it is still owned by the Badrutt family. It sits above Lake St. Moritz with the Engadin mountains all around, and it is the classic choice for an Alpine winter or summer trip.
